Porsche 911E TargaAugust 8, 2018
The only surviving photo of my 1972 Porsche 911E Targa 2.4 injection.
The picture was taken around 1989 in Rushden, Northants.
And yes, the handsome devil sat in it is me 🙄
The picture maybe portrays it to be in better condition than it was. And it was a left-hand drive, which often means lower value in the UK.
But, it was a Porsche. And a 911.
The constant leaking from the removable roof when it wasn’t even removed was almost as bad as driving around in my TR7/8 and that had no roof at all.
Oh and the crunching second gear, with the terror of possible gearbox replacement charges, imminent, was another reason this Porsche had to go.
I forget how much I sold this 911 for, but in the late 1980’s it would not have been anything close to what they go for today! Even a beaten-up one like mine.
It would be sixteen years before I would be in a position to own another Porsche. This I owned for six years.
It was the Porsche Boxster 986.
You can see more cars, motorbikes and scooters I’ve been lucky enough to own, here: Previous Machines.
And I am always keen to hear about the interesting machines you have owned.
