Fitting Door Projector Lights
25th March 2020
Please note these door projector lights were sent to me for review.
However if they turn out to be rubbish then I will say so and immediately remove them.
They arrived today by courier from Germany; about a week after I was first contacted.
A good start because the plastic feels thick and strong 👍
Okay, wizard, I will. Thanks!
So, I found this in my tool box…
Connect the short cable that comes with the kit…
The second I plug in the projector lamp it starts projecting 🤓
And now the excitement is quashed – it dawns on me rapidly that these door projector lights aren’t going to just pop in.
It appears these two tabs on the door card are going to prevent a flush fit 🤬
Great!
And now my options are what?
- put back my original light and throw these things in the bin (and send a ‘spicy’ email to the supplier!)
- make some sort of gasket out of double-sided foam tape and live with how it’ll look
- cut away those two tabs and fit these projector lights flush (there’ll be no going back if I do that)
Wizard?
Okay. Thanks!
So out comes my trusty old hobby knife. I need to go careful. 🥶
Push the lamp into the newly widened gap and apply light pressure using my support tool…
Boom!
No issue down there…
Good times. 😎
I apologise for no night shots. I will add once I’m out there when it’s dark.
Conclusion on these door projector lamps is that they are of good quality, the materials used are decent if the look and feel is anything to go by. Long-term who knows but I will update this (and the Project Yeti Facebook page) in a few months.
By the way there is no nag from the onboard computer after fitting these. 👌
Feel free to stay tuned for more modifications I have planned.
You can see what I have done so far, here: Yeti Customisation
And I am always interested to hear about your Yeti, whether customised or not.

Well isn’t that nice. Best of luck in your search for your Yeti, I believe you and your family will adore it once you have it.
Much thanks for your visit and taking the time to leave a comment.
ps feel free to return with news of your new Yeti once you have got it.
Man, I really want a pair of these. Came to my Yeti recently moving from a Ford Mustang, which had awesome projected logo puddle lights. I’d love to recreate that awesomeness with my awesome Yeti. Facebook link is dead! Do you know if/how I could get hold of these?
Pete, a Mustang to a Yeti, that’s got to be a first, how are you finding the polar opposites?
As for the door projector lights… you’re right, his FB page seems to either be deleted or he may have locked it, I don’t know.
I searched through the Project Yeti Facebook page to see if I could find any reference of him that I may have made at the time he sent me these lights and we’re in luck. He has a website selling these lights. He has even used one of my photos of me fitting them to my Yeti (I see my Batman wristband), I don’t mind though because he did send me these lights for free to review. Anyway, here’s his website:

Good luck. Hope it works out for you.
